The Fancom FLS is an electronic light sensor measuring light intensity in Lux. It can also be used for automatic light control, depending on the software in the controller. With a range from 0 to 100000 Lux, it can be used for inside and outside light conditions. The electronics in the FLS box are sealed in and therefore suitable for use in the aggressive conditions found in poultry and pig houses. Combined with more sophisticated controls like the F37/F38, the FLS can be used in combination with a light control, shutters for daylight entrance control or accurate light intensity control. This proper application of this sensor has proven to save energy, representing up to 30% of light electricity costs. The Fancom FLS light sensor is based upon a LDR (light dependent resistor). The spectral response is
similar to that of the human eye. The cell resistance falls with increasing light intensity.
